We’re excited to inform everyone that regularly scheduled mechanic hours will be starting this upcoming Friday! Tufts community members are welcome to bring their bikes to our shop at 28 Sawyer Ave during our posted hours for FREE repair and consultation services. Please see below for our hours during the Fall 2018 semester, or check the “Mechanic Hours” tab above!
In addition, we will be starting our repair modules, designed to teach anyone and everyone the basic skills you need to fix bikes! The first module will be on Saturday the 22nd, starting at 12:00! Stop by 28 Sawyer Ave to learn all about wheels, including fixing a flat tire, replacing spokes, and wheel truing.
Fridays from 12:30-2, 2:30 – 4:00
We’re happy to announce that the Tufts Bike Share is now fully operational! Special thanks to all those who volunteered their time this Saturday to help us get everything up and running, it was great to see so many new faces!
Feel free to rent our bikes from the front desk at Tisch Library. If you find the bike to be dysfunctional in any way, please fill out a damage report at the front desk of Tisch so we can repair it ASAP.
Mechanic hours will be starting soon, as will our bike repair training modules, so stay tuned for more information!
As always, feel free to contact us via our facebook page or email with any questions or concerns.
We are excited to announce that the Tufts Bike Share will be opening September 15th! Riders can expect the bikes to be available after 5:00pm. Bikes will be available for check out at the library, and are located at both the library and campus center bike shelters. We’re looking forward to another semester of free bikes at Tufts!
Mechanic hours will begin shortly after the opening of the bike share, so stay tuned for more information soon!
Sadly, we are shutting down the bike share and bike shop for the summer, but we’ll return soon after the start of next semester!
This year, we have:
- Saved students a total of $3720 in bike repairs (more than our annual budget!)
- Repaired the bikes of over 112 students!
- Managed and maintained the FREE Tufts bike share!
- Had 4 public bike repair workshops, open to the Tufts community!
- And of course, made lots of friends along the way!
Thanks for everything, and see you all next semester!
(also, you can still contact us over the summer! Feel free to reach out, we like talking to people!)
We will be closing the bikeshare for summer on Saturday, May 5th. Our final mechanic hours will take place on Sunday, May 6th.
For the remainder of Spring 2018, we will be open:
Come by 28 Sawyer for free repairs!
As of 3/10/2018, we have 24 bikes up and running, available for checkout from the library. We even tuned them up, just for you.
Have you always wanted to learn some bike repair skills, but never knew where to start? Check out our free public workshop series open to all students, on Fridays at 2:30 pm, on the Campus Center Upper Patio. We will be covering different topics every week, but our mechanics are happy to answer questions about anything bike-related! (BYOB optional)
Beginning Feb. 3rd, 2018, we will be open for repairs on Saturdays, from 10:30 – 11:00am, at 28 Sawyer Ave. Make sure to arrive before 11… our mechanics will leave if nobody shows up by then.
Want to help manage a 100% student-run business at Tufts, promote sustainability, learn bike repair, and make new friends? Come to our spring GIM. We can use your help, and absolutely no experience is necessary!
