Earlier this month, we reached the one-year anniversary of operating our bike share. We would like to use this space to thank everyone involved in making it happen, and of course, to everyone who has taken one of our bikes for a stroll! Since our opening in April 2011, our bikes have been checked out over three thousand times by the Tufts student body for riding around campus, commuting to work, or simply for a ride on the Minute Man bike path. In addition, we have received enormous help in setting up our bike shop in the Crafts Center, and remaining in operation thanks to our team of volunteer mechanics.
Our fleet of bikes will remain open to everyone in the Tufts community. In the coming years, we hope to expand this number, and further encourage more Tufts students to travel on two wheels. As always, you can check out a bike from Tisch whenever the library is open.
Thanks again, and happy biking!

How do you use our bike share? We would love to know! Tufts Bikes is conducting a survey on student use of the bike share so we can better understand what you want to see from us in the future.

We are looking for capable students who are ready to take on challenging leadership roles next year in one of Tufts’ favorite student organizations. Just one year after opening,we have made over 3,000 bike check-outs and improved the quality of life for Tufts students. We are a small, close-knit group that runs the bike share, working with the library, school administration, and volunteer mechanics to keep the wheels rolling (literally). You will be developing leadership, planning, marketing, organizational and communication skills and gain experience that will help you in landing internships and jobs down the line. Some examples of what our officers do include managing the budget, meeting with school administration to solve payment and logistical problems, running bike-related events, reaching out to other local bike groups in the community, managing our blog and social media presence, and improving student experience. Whatever your experience and skill sets are, there is a place for you in Tufts Bikes and we need your help to keep this awesome service running. If you are looking to get involved in a dynamic and growing student organization, whether you’ve never ridden a Tufts Bike or are a bicycle enthusiast, join our team by sending us an email and introducing yourself: tuftsbikeshare@gmail.com
